Gossip Girl & Scrapbooking

So i've been up to my eyes in scrapbooking supplies, namely Studio Calico kits, and it's felt so very good. With the season 3 of Gossip Girl as the soundtrack of my life for the last three days i've been hunkered down at the table working on some layouts with camp pictures.

This one is inspired by a class I took a while ago with Kelly Purkey. It was based on a sketch. I really liked the misting so I mimicked that in my layout.

This one was also based on a sketch from that same class. I love, love love, this photo. It's the first one we took as a group and I love the high school musical pose more than anything. I have a number of these photos from the summer. They might end up on a layout together yet.

This was a photo I stole form the website. Matthew checks the website every day and he was starting to feel like a creepy. old man because he hadn't seen any photos of me in a while. So in crazy wigs, headbands and on our transportation of choice a.k.a the golf cart we gave him a little shout out via the web! It was very funny!

In other news, I took a photography course yesterday-part 2 of a series I had signed up for at Henry's. It was very enlightening and I was the only one in the class so it was like a private lesson. I learned some great tricks to use for last nights last Crippler's show. Pictures to follow. Needless to say, he convinced me to shot in raw and turns out it really does make a difference. Working a little with photoshop now to perfect the photos...gotta go eat lunch and scrapbooking some more.

Just testing out new flickr stuff...be back with a longer post soon.

Honey, I'm home!

So it's back to the real world. After a not-so-brief summer hiatus from scrapbooking and all things craft related (including this blog) it's time to get back into the swing of things. After turning on the sewing machine my mojo has been rejuvenated even if it was only to give some much-needed love to our bedroom curtains which have been begging to be hemmed since last spring!

So the mojo is back. I'm going to crack out the Studio Calico kits tonight I think! In the meantime Ali's post today inspired me. She's identifying four simple goals for the remainder of 2010. Fall is the season for all things new and those rich colors inspire us to enrich our lives. So here are my four simple goals for Fall 2010:

1. Focus on school. With two threads of school running through my life it's become harder to achieve a fine balance between teaching and graduate school. I'm taking two M.Ed courses again this term and team teaching grade 5/6. I have lots of new, fun ideas now I just have to get organized and implement them!

2. Focus on my feet. It's been months since the half-marathon and I haven't been very diligent about running and general fitness. Cathy Z. and Ali's recent endeavors have been a source of inspiration as well. Her's riding the fitness train.

3. Focus on extracurricular activities. I need an activity. All our friends have 'activities'. They go to trivia, bowling, etc. M has his band. I need an evening activity.

4. Focus on sharing. I'm going to share my talent this fall-scrapbooking, dancing, something. Maybe a little volunteer work?!

All this goal-setting reminds me of my 'one little word' for 2010: possibility. I set 12 goals for myself and so far I've achieved 7.5 of them. I still have a few left and some may not be met i.e a new home?! ;)

So on my scrapbooking to-do list:
1. A Summery of Camp 2010
2. Bermuda Bound

Stay tuned for progress reports...

Summer Memories...and future ones too!

So as promised here are a few of my favourite photos from camp this summer.

Top left:The staff talent show was awesome. We made fun of girls rope burn and attempted to be serious as we listed our words for 'Girls Side'. It was hysterical!
Top right: Me & A-Lo. What would I without her! She's my mom at camp! I love her to pieces!
Middle: Me & D. Not an easy summer for us-the separation wasn't easy but we managed none the less.
bottom left: gotta love camp. Only at camp can you get away with wearing wigs and cruising on a golf cart. We saw Tracy and just had to give a short out to M who hadn't seen any pics of me on the website 'in days!'.
Bottom right: Me & baby O. She made me realize that babies can fit in at camp! She was seriously the cutest yelling out 'D! D! D!'...so funny!

My summer was great but i'm really looking forward to this...

M & I are traveling to Bermuda this weekend for a week to spend our first anniversary in style on the beach!

Wish me luck and no sunburns!

WOW! Talk about MIA...

So i've been MIA for the last 3+ months. Life has been hectic to say the least. May/June was spent winding up and down from school, both graduate studies and teaching. We ended on June 23rd and I hopped on a plane to camp immediately-like 2 hours later.

Camp this summer was amazing. I had an awesome summer. Each one has it's ups and down but this one was really good. The Italians were back with their usual antics and their "Kreeeesta! I luvvvvv you!". It was hard to say goodbye to them at the end of the first three weeks. But I have lots of pictures and memories to keep me going for the next 10 months. Second session was crazy. I tutored two kids-bringing my 'real' life and my 'camp' life together for once. It was difficult to make time but nice to recognize that part of me in camp. It was fun and I had two great girls to work with. CLUE was a hit as a "Twilight" theme. We had a "Hoedown Throwdown" on girls side and I ran two Apache relays in one morning during colour war. A few great days off with D rounded out the summer-one in particular that involved Margaritas and some eye-opening realizations with some old/new friends. After a tough night of crying and goodbyes we boarded the bus on Saturday to head home. I spent the evening with Emilie and Erika, my two oldest camp friends, having dinner at Tre in NYC and had a blast. I love reminiscing about our good times at camp circa 2002/2003.

So here I am at home. I got back yesterday at noon. M is sooooo happy to have me back and i'm pumped to spend a few weeks decompressing and getting back on my 'life track'. I'm registered for courses again in the Fall semester and this year I will have tons of time to prepare for school. No wedding this summer. It's hard to believe that it's been nearly a year since we got married. For our anniversary M and I are going to Bermuda on Sunday and we can't wait!

So i'll have tons of pictures of camp, Bermuda and my new studio calico kits soon. For now I figured a small update was enough...more soon.

xoxo
