An old desk is like new again in our house.
I've been working to 'finish' decorating our house this summer. I'm sure those of you who are home owners know that you're never really 'finished' but I'm working on making it our home.
So one of the pieces I worked on in July was this desk.
It's circa 1940ish and was a hand-me-down from my mother in law who was replacing her vanity. It was a tough piece to work on. I had to strip, sand & stain multiple times. It was hard work and I spent a significant amount of time in the driveway working away in the hot afternoon sun.
But it was totally worth it. Check out the finished product.
I accessorized with things I had at home including this vintage typewriter. I also bought a plant-which I'm trying not to kill.
The only snag I ran into were the handles.
Because of the age of the piece I couldn't find pulls that were the correct width so I had to resort to spray painting the orginal ones. I'm not a huge fan of them but they'll do until by some chance a miracle happens and I find some new ones at a garage sale.
Enjoy your Saturday!
