So I'm joining my friend Cathie today from her blog With Coffee in Hand on her weekly quest to 'bust her stash'. Sara is also joining Cathie-and so begins an impromptu blog hop! Check out her project on her blog, Sara Things, as well.
I'm on a mission this month to kill a few kits and that meant dragging out some old supplies. And that's just what I did.
I found this paper in an old kit from The Paperie and loved it's sheen. You cna't really see if very well with the lighting but trust me-it's lovely. So I dragged out the one 'silk' I own-gold of course, my current color obsession- and some mists and masked and tap tap tapped my way to a little messy first.
Sidenote: The new gold metallic Mr. Huey is beau-ti-ful.
Then I dragged out some tags and misted them with some Bonny Blue Mr. Huey. Then I stamped them with a dark blue Jenni Bowlin ink and a polka dot stamp.
I used up an old tag-origin unknown- & an old little silver clock rub on from Studio Calico, a little Fancy Pants heart pin and a few items from my DD kits. The gold doily is from the Kelly Purkey kit and the sequins, fabric brad & wood veneer doily are form the SC kit. I also used a few Stampin' Up heart rub-on's like the one on the corner of the picture.
I added the four wood veneer potty people with an inital for each of us stamped on them with some old Inkado stamps.
I used an old OA label inside that little plate that I've had lying around forever with a few of the fonts from the Studio Calico DD kit.
I stamped a sentiment on some gold striped washi tape over a piece of leftover doily and a few layers of stamps and an old heart rub-on. I added a sequin with a little gem for good measure.
Frankly, I never get 'messy'-and honestly I walked away with very little residue on my fingers- but I enjoyed playing around a little bit. It was fun. I'm planning on taking Cathie's '7 Layer' class in March and if you're interested in learning a few new 'messy' techniques you should sign up too.

Hey, Krista! There might be paint on this page but it's so you. And I love how you used up so many old pieces you have lying around. Thanks for joining me on my stash bashing adventure. Let's do it again!
ReplyDeleteLoving the gold silks that you did. Doodles are really cool so I loved the dots surrounding the hearts. Too bad when I do it myself I don't like it. Darn!
ReplyDeleteLove all the random elements - they work together so nicely!
ReplyDeleteI love all the details here, and yes the gold Mr Huey's is awesome. I just ordered my second bottle :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love the misting, and the gold doilies! x
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! And has inspired me...
