And now a few more layouts from 'The Paperie's' March kit. If you haven't seen them already I posted a batch yesterday as well.
So the first few layouts I made with this kit were pretty simple-even for me. Those were, in fact, M's words when I showed those layouts to him- 'pretty simple'. I was determined to try something new and get out of my comfort zone. And I think I did.
First Up...'Friends'
In this layout I did some paper cutting of that hexagon paper which I'm pretty sure I used on EVERY layout. I love that paper. I think Cathy liked it too and use it here in her layout, cutting some of it out to give it some dimension on her layout.
I also did a lot of sewing. And I cut my photos into hexagons as well-even chopping a piece of the 4 by 6 photo out to fit the hexagon photos into the collage.
And of course I misted.
Before Allison and Paul left for O-town in January we took a break from the post-Christmas chaos and went out for an afternoon coffee at Rocket. We walked down from the house and it was cold. We were nice and warm inside and Liam enjoyed reaching for the coffee-of course he wants what he can't have! ;)
Then there was this one. Way out of the box for me but actually my favorite layout of the batch this month!
I did a little misting and a lot of stamping. I used the frame stamp from the My Mind's Eye set for each of my pics-adding a little bit of pattern paper matting here and there as well.
I sewed around the edge of the page creating another frame. I also used the little tiny frame for an embellishment with some stickers and punches. I used the Smash date stamp in a few different colors in the top left corner for the date.
These are pictures of our trip to the cabin in November with Allison, Paul & baby Liam. We had a great time relaxing, watching Harry Potter & just having some baby times together. I actually loved the way this came together-it's different for me but I really, really like it.
I had a little bit of paper left and thought that I would try a large photo layout a la Ali Edwards.
Just a large photo here on an 8 1/2 by 11 page-something I do very rarely. A few tagged embellishments tucked under at the top and a little journaling on the same kraft cardstock to blend right into the background paper. That was an idea I got from last week's Studio Calico challenge from Melissa Mann.
I did make a little boo boo on this one though. Originally I cut 1/4" too much of the picture off and so I had to use a little strip-which I embossed with another of the stamps from the My Mind's Eye kit- to cover my mistake that I taped back together.
So this photo might not have the best resolution but it has some great memories. This might have been my 4 fav people at camp this past summer- we were the '5 best friends that anyone could have'. I miss them so much!
I have to say that I am very pleased with the results of my self-imposed challenge to create something a little more complex than my usual layout.
Have you challenged yourself lately? What do you wish you did more of that you don't usually do?
I think I should use sewing more on my pages. I really loved the way that looked once I figured out the tension on the machine!
One more project to share tomorrow! A mini-album! Stay tuned!
xoxo
