Saturday DIY: Copycat Frames

So I've been coveting these beautiful frames at Chapters for months now.

I loved the linen picture mat. It was just so nice.

Howvere, the price-@a steep $35.00 per frame was killing me. I knew if I could just find the right materials I could replicate them for a lot less.

So, I went on a mission to find similar frames. At first I wanted square frames but that search ended empty handed so I started looking for frames that just hand a similar style with the brushed silver, chunky look.

I found them for $2 a piece at the dollar store.

Then I visited my local fabric store and found a similar piece of linen fabric for $3. With a little elbow grease and double sided tape I managed to replicate the look I was going for and all for just under $10-with a ton of material left over.

Just goes to show that it doesn't have to be expensive to look expensive. The pictures I'm using are from a box of cards that I have had around for ages. There are three different cards with doggie 'couples' on them and they are stinkin' cute.

They are going to go up in the spare room eventually. I'm still working on art for that room but once that goes up it's a finished room and I'll be giving a little tour here on my blog.

Stay tuned to next weeks DIY for an awesome thrift store find that 'lit up' my day Thursday.

P.S;: Notice anyone's reflection in that picture? Yeah, Eugene was 'helping' me! He stalks me around my own house folks. I love it.
