DIY Saturday: Fall Wreath & a Mantle

So one of my October goals was to do some Fall decorating. I live with a non-decorator. He hates themed decorating so my parameters for my 'Fall' decor had to be simple and blend with the rest of our decor. (insert rolling of the eyes in here).

So I started with the wreath.

I bought all the supplies at...the dollar store-gasp. I know. The pinecones were found under a tree downtown. Now, that's a cheap project! Here's a few close up shots-

For all you die hard scrabble players out there-don't worry! I bought that scrabble set for $1 at a garage sale during the summer. Our complete set is still in tact and yes, we do play.

Check out how cute this is.

M figures it's just a matter of time before it's stolen.

I hung it with some ribbon and this little tip I saw on pinterest. Of course, I can't find said 'pin' now. I used a sticky hook that can be removed, on the back of the door and placed it upside down so it's holding the wreath from the opposite side. Genius! Might also make it more difficult to steal.

In other news, the rest of the pinecones I made M drag home in his bag found a home on our mantle.

So did a few branches that Eugene helped me pick out.

That's probably it for our Fall decor around here. But, Fall baking-well that's in full swing. On the docket this weekend: Apple Rhubarb Pie & Homemade Ice Cream.

Drool.
