Thursday Inspiration

So I love to be inspired by others. In fact, Studio Calico is currently advertising a class all about scraplifting. I do love a good scraplift.

So I saw this one on- where else?!- pinterest:

This is by Kinsey Wilson for Studio Calico. I love the simplicity and knew I had a washi tape that would mimic the chevron/arrow pattern combined with the circle pictures.

So I kept it very similar, scraplifting the design.

I only had two photos so I punched a piece of the Amy Tangerine 'Love' paper that I've been hoarding. I *love* that paper. Lol.

My favourite are those chevron cork pieces. They are so stinking cute and go with everything. And that arrow washi tape-the perfect embellishment for this layout on the stark white cardstock.

Inspired by...

Little side note: I gave my blog header a little overhaul yesterday. Just changing it up around here a little. And yes, I recognize that I am no longer a 'twenty-something' as I turned thirty nearly two weeks ago but I'm embracing the lie. Just kidding actually. But really I just didn't want to change the name of my blog. Frankly, it's just too much trouble.

I haven't done an 'inspired by' post in ages and recently came across this layout by Kelly Noel. Naturally, like all inspiration these days-it came from Pinterest.

I loved the effect at the top. Buttons, a love of mine, were incorporated heavily and that really, really appealed to me. So, I stuck pretty closely to the layout itself.

This is what I came up with.

IMG_3397

Don't you love the buttons? I added some wood veneer and enamel dots as well. I love the dimension.

IMG_3414

I did a little misting of the letters and used a few wood veneer similar to the inspiration piece.

IMG_3415

I left out the bottom piece of pattern paper for an extra line of journaling.

So, Wendy & Janna, the owners of The Paperie, made a few dreams come true in March when they invited Kelly Purkey to come teach classes and meet our crazy bunch of ladies at the store. It was E.P.I.C and really a dream come true.

Now, they're doing it all again!

Yep. Dina Wakely is coming and while I'm not nearly as into her business as much as Miss. KP's I am very, very excited to meet her and learn some new things. Art journaling is very new to me so I have a feeling that she is going to widen my horizons. I'm excited to spend the weekend learning new things in August and if you're local you should check it out too!

Inspired By

So I'm back this week with another layout that I was inspired via-the usual-pinterest. What would we do without it? Really?! I'm addicted.

So here's the layout that I loved-

Screen shot 2013-01-27 at 8.02.55 PM

It's by a scrapper whom I very much admire-Sasha Farina. I love her work. It's always layered and colorful but not too busy. In this layout I loved the circles that were scattered down the page & the three tags as photo mats. So stinkin' cute.

This is what I came up with-

IMG_2828

I stuck with a 12 by 12 page as opposed to the 8 1/2 by 11. I also traced some manilla tags with the Kelly Purkey DD papers that I had leftover from the kit. I used a smattering of stars to do a little masking and some little wood veneer stars instead of circles to scatter down the page. For the pictures I cut them on photo paper but left margins to allow for a Polaroid effect which I mimicked with the SC Polaroid holiday frames.

IMG_2837

And I added the date and a few little holiday-themed embellishments.

IMG_2838

Now, let me explain my title-

IMG_2836

I truly have the best husband ever. One of his wonderful traits is his ability to buy the most perfect gifts and this past Christmas was no exception. I found a little Kate Spade under my tree this year and boy was I excited. Excited enough that I am using the box as a scrap box in my scrap room because it jsut makes me happy every time I look at it. A beautiful classic, structured forest green, bag lay within the layers of pink patterned tissue paper. She's stunning. And that's just one of the reasons why he rocks.

He's pretty great and he's all mine ladies.

Inspired by

I"m sharing another layout today for my new series 'Inspired By'. I'm back again with another layout inspired by Pinterest. This week it's this one-

by Kelly Noel. I love her work. Click the photo to go to the original page. I stuck with a very similar layout here but what inspired me were the arrows. I stamped a few with white & gold ink and used some velum and wood veneers as well.

And now, onto the layout.

Honestly December 1st is a magical day for me. I always feel like anything is possible on that date. I LOVE the holidays and when December rolls around I get sappy and sentimental and everything is special and means something to me. I had this magical shot and it seemed perfect to journaling my feelings about the possibility of magic in December.

Note: journaling is tucked in on the tag on the left.

A little velum and a little badge directs your attention to our very tall, very magical tree.

Inspired by

I'm starting a new series this year called 'inspired by'. I'll be the first to say that all my ideas don't just come out of my head. I LOVE pinterest.

And that's just what this series is about.

This layout was my inspiration.

Screen shot 2013-01-03 at 2.43.10 PM

I loved the triangles and so I kept very close to the layout. I even went with a similar color scheme.

IMG_1990

I added a few extra embellishments of course because that's my style.

I love the little dimension that the twine add's as well. I love how this layout turned out.

I'd love to see what you've been inspired by if you use Pinterest. Please leave you Pinterest name in the comments so I can follow you.
