Project Life: Week 4

I've caught up! I know that's not the point of this project but I'm pleased that we're four weeks in and I'm still on top of it. I'm not good at going back and finishing things so it's best I just stay ahead of it all!

So today I want to share a little bit about my process when I work on my project life. It's simple and makes the tedious parts a little quicker for me.

*So I always start with my photos and my page planner by Marcy Penner. I know I've said it before but this has been a wonderful organizational tool.

*I take my photos from iphoto and put the ones I want to use into a new folder on my desktop. From there I add my notes to my page planner based on those photos.

*Then I open anything I need to change into Photoshop Elements and crop my photos to fit the page protector slots. Then I send them all to the printer.

*Once I have my pictures in hand I trim anything that needs to be trimmed.

*Then I use my We R Memory keepers corner chomper 1/2" rounder on the corners of the larger photos. I leave small hipstagram photos as they are because I usually print them at 2.5" by 2.5".

*From there I slide things into the slots. I embellish one page at a time, taking it slot by slot.

*I usually write my journaling last which I then print out on my home printer. I like to use orange peel cardstock by Bazzil. I've also been using some 4 by 6 digital journaling blocks that I bought ages ago from Designer Digitals by Ali Edwards.

Then I'm usually done! My whole process usually takes a total of 2-3 hours from start to finish, minus the time it takes to send the photos to the developer and get them back. I find the most tedious part is cropping any of the photos in PSE. I'm getting better at that though!

So, here's this week 4 of Project Life.

This week I included an insert. We had two big events this week-an early morning brunch on Sunday and a dinner mix-up on Friday night that deserved some attention!

I had a leftover 3 slot page protector that I had from an insert I used a few weeks ago. So I slid all the bits and pieces into the slots and then I just punched holes right through the photos to use the page protector. It worked and I didn't have to waste the rest of the page protector.

Here's a closeup of the first page.

Just another ordinary week-reading, routines, celebrating Chinese New Year with some General Tao's chicken, gym and some comfort food.

The other half...

A right now post from my blog, a new chair for our living room, M played roller hockey with the boys, I felt weird all week and my family came for some birthday celebrations! I also had some comments on a layout in the SC gallery that I was pretty excited about! ;)

This is my favourite part of my project life album this week. I wanted to use a free printable from the Photo-A-Day class for the 'right now' slot. Just a simple hipstagram photo taken for the Polaroid. I used the journaling from my post on Saturday for the 'hello life' journaling block. I love that this captures a moment in time for me. It'll be fun to look back on later.

I'm enjoying project life. I'm finding that all those random pictures and funny stories that I wouldn't normally scrapbook are making it into this album. I LOVE that. I feel like more memories are being chronicled in this small project.

Are you working on project life? How are you finding it? What's your process?

xoxo

  3. That's great that you're keeping up--thats my fear in starting it--that I'd give up and then get behind. Good for you!
