Guest Blogger: Making the Cut!

As mentioned in last week's post, I've been taking a little blog vacation this past week and have invited some friends to share on the blog for the last few days. I'll be back tomorrow but for today, enjoy Lori!

Good day everyone! This is Lori and I'm taking over Krista's blog today! While Krista is living it up on vacation I'm here making sure her blog doesn't get lonely while she's gone.
In early November,  Krista and I, as well as over 70 other women participated in The Paperie 's 15th Scrapbook Retreat at the Wilds. During the retreat, I demoed the Silhouette Cameo.

The Cameo is such an awesome machine and is the ultimate scrapbooking tool! I bought my Cameo just over a month ago and I am in LOVE! I have used it to make many awesome diecuts for backgrounds, titles and embelishments for my layouts. You can also create cards, 3D ornaments and home decor projects using this machine. Check out the Silhouette blog or do a search on Pinterest for some awesome projects. You can cut thin chipboard and acetate, various thicknesses of cardstock, glitter paper,foil, sticker paper sheets, some vinyl's and fabric.



The machine allows you to cut images in the finest detail and the online store has thousands of images, font and die cut files to choose from, with new images added daily. Many awesome scrapbook designers and companies have also designed their own die cut files you can download for a small fee or for free! Here are a few sneak peeks of some layouts I have created using the Cameo! Check my blog for upcoming posts for the complete layouts!



At the Retreat, Krista eyed the Chevron Stripe background Die cut by Studio Calico :



Here is the layout I created using this die cut:



I added different pieces of pattern paper to the back of the diecut and then I used pop dots to pop up the chevron die cut. I centered it on a piece of white embossed cardstock. I then used the leftover pieces on my cutting mat and added them to the layout. I added my pic and some hearts and sticker words. The title was made using my silhouette cameo using a cut file designed by Ali Edwards and the Arial Narrow font from my PC. Yeah the Cameo cuts your own fonts on your PC-another reason I love this machine.

I  cut the same file for Krista and this is the awesome layout she created. I love that she added photos behind the chevron die cut! Such a creative gal that Krista is!

Just Popping in...

...with a sneak of something I'm working on for The Paperie's retreat.



I've been busy creating our Halloween costumes and that's where my creative energies have gone the last day or two. I'll have more craft goodness tomorrow.

P.S: There's exactly two months to Christmas. I CAN'T wait. So many projects to cram into the next two months! Oh the goodness.

First-thanks friends for all the positive comments on yesterday's blog post about the overhaul here on the blog! I'm glad you like it! 

Now, onto some scrappy business.

Remember last week when I posted that layout of one of Eugene's many quirks? Well, here's another one.



Euge has a tendency to roll and roll and roll in a towel or blanket whenever he gets wet. If you hold it up for him after he's done swimming, bathing, etc. he literally rubs himself silly all over it.

This of course called for a scrapbook page. I posted a sneak of this layout in progress ages ago but didn't get around to finishing it until recently. I had a scrap block. Don't you hate those?!

I used a set of stamps repeated for the background of my title. The red Basic Grey letters fit perfectly into the chevrons.



I used the pink October Afternoon letters for a sub title & added the date on a little label using the twenty twelve badge that came in my SC kit.



I'm working on Halloween costumes today. We have a party on Friday night! Wish me luck-I may need it for what we're attempting to pull off!

Man Love

Today's title is two fold- a giant thank you to my husband for spending most of his Sunday afternoon revamping my blog. Check out his handy work. Didn't he do awesome? Nice and clean and tidy. He really is the best.

Now, here's some more man love for you. Check out those two handsome men.



These boys. They are such good friends. M is so lucky to have friends from high school that he can still call his besties- he totally doesn't call them that but it's funny.

My goal on this page was to use up those October Afternoon banners.



And by George, I did it! Please note that I also used a doily- gasp!- and on a boy's page- double gasp!. Honestly, I'm just breaking all the rules here!

I also added a little twine and a few banner flags at the bottom of the page.



And that's a wrap. There's journaling. It's tucked away of course. It talks about 'man love' and blah blah blah.

P.S: A special thank you to the ladies who attended my class on Saturday. It was awesome and I hope they had as much fun as I did. I hope they learned a little something too in between the idle chatter and laughter. Thanks for attending girls! Can't wait to see what you make!
