Not quite a Baker's Dozen

Today I spent the afternoon elbow deep in scrapbooking supplies and I could not have been happier. I created four layouts-a very small number for me. Usually I bang out 8-9 in an afternoon but today I felt like leisurely creating a few pieces using the Baker's Dozen kit from Studio Calico. I also finished a layout for the Ali Edwards course I took in the Fall but haven't gotten around to finishing yet.

I tried to scan and stitch them in photoshop so they aren't the best quality. I haven't gotten the hang of it just yet. I think I have to be more diligent in the scanning process. But I was just too excited to get them up on the blog to bother going back and fixing it all up. So without further ado...here they are.

This is the Ali layout from her course Yesterday & Today. It's the story of Matthew & I and the beginning of 'us'. I have to admit I LOVE this layout. Both photos are fantastic. Even M was impressed with this one.

This layout was the first one I made using Baker's Dozen. The scallop on the right is a new acrylic stamp from Studio Calico. I love it! I am also in love with the American Crafts chipboard 'regards' letters. They are so cute. This photo is old, old, old. It actually fell off of a layout from my early scrapbooking days yesterday when I was rearranging albums on a shelf. So, I used the opportunity to use it to create a new layout. It's all the Newfoundland girls from camp during the summer of 2004. There were only 8 of us. Hard to believe that last summer there were 17 of us. We've come such a long way.

This is a combo of two 3*4 pictures of M & I on our wedding day in our most fashionable outfits. I love both these photos. I used the Basic Grey lace cut paper to create an accent there at the bottom. I love how it turned out too.

This last one was WAY out of my comfort zone. I had to trim the edges in photoshop because it looked kind of funny when I stitched it. But you can get an overall idea none the less.

I used Tattered Angels mist to create the red splattered effect and some number stamps with black Adirondack ink. I also used a ton of orange which is a colour I rarely buy or use! Despite all of this I love how it turned out. It looks great and it tells a fun story too. This picture is another old one from June 2007 when our group of friends were heading separate ways in 'life'.

It Came! It Came!

Baker's dozen is here! I literally jumped for JOY when I found it at the bottom of my front door! Who knew a brown box could elicit such a crazy response!

I squealed, I ripped open that box with my keys. Three brown envelopes later I had a stack of beauty! And a punch for a friend of mine. It's even more glorious than the pictures online.

A few pics of a cute Mini

So I experimented with some tattered angels mists this past weekend. I was spurred on by the many ladies over at Studio Calico site. They constantly use this stuff on their pages and I couldn't help but discover what all the fuss was about. So I made a little mini for love and valentine's. It was inspired by a mini tag album that I saw on the Studio Calico blog.

So here's my version-no pictures inside just yet. But there will be soon enough.

It's Been a While...

So it's been a while since i've posted. We've been busy bees around here. I had a four day weekend last week. I spent Friday shopping for supplies and stocking up on some of my favourites.

Then Saturday morning we went on a road trip to Toronto. Matthew & I visited Jeremy and some other friends of ours. We did some shopping and had a wonderful Valentine's dinner at Ruth Chris's Steakhouse. It was the best steak i've ever had! It was a wonderful evening. You know you're comfortable with your husband when you return from a Valentine's dinner and he gets to watch the all-star basketball game & you get to scrapbook. Pretty awesome! My husband rocks!

So I did make a little something but i'll have to wait until tomorrow to post pictures of it. For now here's a pic of the brothers in TO this weekend. I'm sure that this will return in the form of a scrapbook page later.

Some Scrappy Goodness

WARNING: This is a picture-heavy post!

Yesterday I spent the day scrapbooking at my LSS. There was some great company and I made a new friend named Loulou. She was lovely and shared my deep-rooted love for Cadbury's mini eggs. It was meant to be! ;) Katie and Stephanie were there as well and made for some great inspiration and conversation throughout the day.

I was able to complete all but 2 of the things on my to-do list. I had intended to do a lot and use a few ideas that i've been hoarding and waiting for some great pictures with which to use them. So here's a sample of what was produced:

My first layout of the day was one that was inspired by my not-so-new book 52 More Scrapbooking Challenges by Liz Katchner. I love this book. As the picture suggests, I had to get inspired by an outfit. So the following layout resulted. I used lots of lace and pearls to emulate the dress from that glorious day in August.

Then I completed a layout using challenge # 4: let a song inspire you. Thus the title: Jump for my Luv.

Then I worked on another layout I have been waiting forever to complete. I scraplifted this from a December 2009 Creating Keepsakes issue I think. I just love the layout. It chronicles all of 2009 in one two-page spread.

I also made our monthly layout for December. Each month I do a layout about the month so we have a highlight of all the good stuff that happened.

I created a number of layouts about Matthew but this one's my favourite. The pictures were taken by a good friend in Newfoundland. This was the band's first time playing at home in NL.

So all of a sudden I have this new love of flowers. The next two layouts are inspired by more of Liz's pages in her book but look at all those flowers. So not me! But i'm loving them.

That last one's my favourite. In a blog hop the other day I found instructions for someone else's 'happy accident' which resulted in these cool flowers. Here's how you make them: Cut or punch circles. Then cut them in a spiral way and twist them together into 3D form. A piece of sticky dbl sided tape across the back should secure them. Add an embellishment to the centre. They are really cute. Here's a close up picture of them...

So that's a small sample of what I accomplished yesterday. There's a few more posted on the flickr account if you want to check them out as well.

This week I have a shopping date on Friday with my friend Kerry. She's new to scrapbooking but she's caught the bug for sure. We're going to do some shopping and then scrap here at my house.

They're here!

My pictures came. There's a positive note and a negative note to this 'appearance' though.

Positive: They look great! The colours and quality of the prints is awesome!

Negative: They took forever to get here. I ordered them on the 15th and they didn't come until today! That's a longggggg time to wait for pictures.

So I have to do one thing next time-I have to order LOTS of pictures (makes the shipping cheaper too!). That way i'll have tons of photos to scrap with and more on the way.

Also, I happened to notice that the photos I developed from Nate, our wedding photographer, are way more amazing than the ones I've taken with my point and shoot. Matthew says that means I need a new camera...maybe one day. Right now there are other priorities...

So on a scrappy note-cosmo cricket had a sketch challenge over on their blog recently. I created a layout based on it using some wedding photos. THAT page was the inspiration for my wall of wedding photos actually. Here's the sketch and the creation.

I never submitted it but there's a new one up on the blog that I may create something for on the weekend. I am creating all day Saturday at my LSS. I'll probably have lots to share then.

One more thing i'm working on is my wedding photo collage. I plan to do a 30*30 canvas ofblack and white 3*4 pics with a few 4*6 colour pictures popping off in certain places. It's hard to describe but I do have a vision. The idea was inspired by an art piece I saw at a restaurant around the block from my house. I saw it in October and haven't had a chance to develop photos until now. I only recently got the wedding photos.

Happy February!

Today was a GREAT day! So much happened. I had a great review at work. That was awesome. It was my 7 year anniversary with Matthew. I had a great run. And now i'm enjoing a guilty pleasure-The Bachelor. I'm ashamed to admit it but yes, i am watching it as we speak.

I didn't scrapbook all weekend but I did take some 'yummy' pictures! We went to Mike and Nicole's for dinner on Saturday. Our job/my job was providing desert. So i made this...

It was delicious! It came out the Magnolia Cookbook (Surprized) For those of you who don't

know Magnolia Bakery is my favourite spot in Manhatten for cupcakes. It stems from a Sex & The City episode from years ago and while the show ended it's TV run my love for Magnolia cupcakes did not. So, I bought the cookbook and now I cna have them no matter where I am!

On Sunday I framed and mounted the 6 layouts I completed of some of our wedding pictures that were blogged by Nate Gates, our wedding photographer. This is the best picture I could get of what that now looks like in our hallway. I bought 6 frames, two of each kind and formed them into a group of 6, two rows of three. I love how it looks!
