"The Paperie" March Kit

Note: It's March 12, 2012. Today I'll be participating in the Take 12 photo challenge and you should check it out and do it too!

Before I dive headlong into some kit layouts I wanted to share a little bit about our weekend-which was awesome.

On Saturday night my uncle turned 50 and that meant a great, big party. By request it was 80's themed and who doesn't love the 80's?! So, we dressed up in our finest Lycra, donned a bit of makeup and puffy hair and headed out for a night with some family to celebrate his big day!

Then yesterday we had a little skype date with some of our favorite people.

There's my man Liam-excuse the screenshot. He was very interested in the ipad. It was so nice to chat with them and we can't wait to see them in only 4 weeks! Pumped!

Now, on to scrappy things!

I had a lot of fun this month working with 'The Paperie's' monthly kit. It was a mixture of bright yellow, navy blue & kraft products from a variety of companies including Jillibean Soup, Authentique, American Crafts, My Mind's Eye and many others. It was a great kit with serious potential so it's no surprise that I managed to use nearly every last scrap of it and got 7 layouts, a mini album & two simple cards accomplished.

Now, that's a lot of scrappy goodness.

Today I'm sharing a few of my simpler layouts. I put most of these together fairly quickly and think you can do the same!

Love that stamp by My Mind's Eye that is embossed in yellow ZING!. It was a great stamp set and I eventually broke that stamp down into the frame and the sentiment to use in a variety of ways. The burlap heart was a cute touch as well. The journaling is tucked behind the picture but it tells a little story that I just had to scrapbook.

M said to me recently that I needed to find some new blog content because I was always talking about him and Liam. My response to that was that they're basically the two most important men in my life. Cheesy-yeah. True-yeah. I wanted to chronicle that conversation so I grabbed some photos of Liam and M at Christmas having a little fun. Just goes to show that you don't necessarily have to tell the story that was happening in the photos at the time-you can use photos of events to tell general life stories.

This one uses those stamps again-that beautiful banner stamp that I embossed with some white embossing power from American Crafts. I kept this layout simple because there was a lot going on in the photos. Just a pop of yellow and a few embellishments.

Just a few camp pictures here. Our camp colors are actually gold (a.k.a yellow) & blue so this kit really spoke to me and said 'scrap some camp photos NOW Krista!'. Love these girls and boys and all the awesome memories we shared Summer 2011.

This one took about 20 minutes folks-4 4 by 6 photos pre-printed with some journaling already on them courtesy of a little Photoshop action. A little of that kraft cardstock at the top and bottom and a little punched strip of the yellow polka dot paper! A title and voila, D.O.N.E.

I made this desert- S'mores in a Jar- in January for our first group of dinner guests in our new house. Let's just say it was amazingly delicious. I don't usually share my recipes but this one was too easy and yummy not to! Everyone deserves a little s'mores in their life.

This layout was shared in the sneak peeks the other day on 'The Paperie's' blog but I wanted to share it here as well. I used a bunch of little photos set up kind of like little photo strips for this layout. I even got a little messy with some paint and some Mr. Huey white mist as well to mimic the painting in the pictures. The title was made with the new Accucut die that's currently in the store. Check it out because it is a great size for titles!

As many of you know, in December we moved into a new house. It required a little bit of cosmetic love before we actually moved our stuff into it and these pictures are part of the process of our 'making a house a home' process. We had lots of help- shout out to Mom & Dad- who spent a lot of time painting and cleaning to help us get everything ready.

Just a few layouts here that were simple to make and are simple to recreate-whether you have the kit supplies or not!

I'll be back tomorrow with a few layouts that were a little bit challenging for me. I tried a few new things but I'm proud of how they turned out and can't wait to share them with you!

  2. Hi Krista,

Love what you did with the Paperie Kit! Too bad you didn't post any photos of the Cabin Minibook, loved that one as well. How did you print those cute little photos that look like polaroids? I love that look and am wondering what process you use to get that look? Really enjoy your blog.
