Project Life: Fall

I've been working on my project life Fall album.

IMG_4752

Of course, Fall isn't over just yet. I'm documenting September, October & November in my Fall album. I'm using another handbook by Studio Calico to contain the project.

I've compiled a few of my fav pictures so far to share with you.

IMG_4753

I used up an old Hambly transparency with some fall foilage for the opening page of my album with some wood veneer.

IMG_4754

I love that card from the Midnight edition of the Project life kits.

IMG_4755

Week in the life using a few badges I've been hoarding and can't even remember who their made by!

IMG_4756

I love creating 6 by 8 page layouts in these albums as well. Lots of pink here-unusual for me but I like the look.

IMG_4757

The other side of that layout is this one. I love these pics of these two. On the other side I broke an SC card in half to fill the pockets and used one of them as a pocket for my tickets from the show.

IMG_4758

Some beautiful Fall photos and some letters & a badge by KP.

The page on the left is neat because I used another piece of the transparency-

IMG_4759

And created a flip up with it to showcase a few more pics.

IMG_4761

And last, for today, is another full page layout. I adore the 6 by 8 size. It's so quick an simple.

PL Summer Album; Part 3

This is Part 3 of my Summer Album. You can view part 1 & 2 here & here.

This is part 3 a.k.a The Most Magical Part of Our Summer.

So we went on a disney cruise.

Very good friends of ours got married this summer on the Disney Dream. Our entire friendship circle packed up and set sail for 4 days at sea with Mickey & Minnie.

IMG_4551

We brought reinforcements. And then our friends ran up and down the stairs past this photo. Said reinforcements were not involved.

IMG_4552

Chillin'. Also the kids area was a little different from the adult area. We stuck to the adult area.

IMG_4553

We met a few characters. Ya know, just laying around tanning and then Mickey decided to lay down on the lounger beside me.

IMG_4554

And then we had a wedding. It was lovely.

IMG_4555

And we hung out on the prettiest beach ever. And saw sharks, sting rays & fishes. No joke. There was a baby shark. M refused to go back in the H2O.

IMG_4556

Pictures with the bridal party & the fam. Such a handsome group of boys.

IMG_4557

And then there were fireworks. We celebrated N's birthday the day we got off the ship at a great spot in Orlando together. It was yummy.

IMG_4558

And we found tacos & went to Wet & Wild the next day with B-rock. When in rome right?!

And that's it for our summer album. It was an E.P.I.C summer.

I have a new plan for PL.

Yep. So I've been doing KTOL a.k.a 'Keeping Track of Life' all year long and love it. It's a simplified version of PL in that it includes one double sided page protector and an interactive layout. Being able to do one layout using multiple photos is awesome.

But, this summer I decided to do a Summer Mini Album.

IMG_4525

I used a Studio Calico Handbook for it and discovered how much I enjoyed the size and manner in which I could fill it. I didn't use date cards or anything. I just scrapbooked using pocket page protectors. It was awesome-I even managed to include some 6 by 8 layouts.

IMG_4524

And so, I decided that it would be a great idea to do a seasonal project life. My plan is to use this Studio Calico woodgrain album for the Fall album. One for Winter & one for Spring.

IMG_4568

So my Summer album is now complete-well, except the journaling which we all know is my weak spot. It's large and very, very full so I'll be sharing it over the next few days here on the blog.

IMG_4570

So here goes Part 1 a.k.a The 3 Weeks We Spent in Ottawa. 'We' being a combination of M, E, & I as well as E &I.

IMG_4526

I used a serious combination of Kelly Purkey PL kit products and some of my favourite things. This is the opening page. I used her 'Hello Summer' stamp and gold brilliance ink to stamp the sentiment repeatedly on white cardstock to create the background. Then I used this 3 by 4 kraft card with beautiful white letterpress.

IMG_4527

Our summer bucket list still needs to be printed but I've left a spot for it. You'll notice that that is a repeated sentiment throughout this album. I sometimes like to add my personal thoughts and ideas after displaying my work on the blog.

IMG_4528

IMG_4529

I discovered I love tacos-specifically fish tacos- at El Camino in O-Town with some of our fav people Mike & Nicole.

IMG_4530

While we hung out M went to Ottawa Explosion Weekend with Mike. It involved a few Gatorade-fueled mornings.

IMG_4531

I got to visit some of my old students which was pretty awesome.

IMG_4532

IMG_4533

I used lots of KP flair-I love it all. And those food stamps came in very, very handy this summer! Not just in O-Town.

IMG_4534

We ate at some of our fav places of course like The manx for brunch. And there was lots of prep for L's 2nd birthday party-monkey themed of course.

IMG_4535

IMG_4536

IMG_4537

IMG_4538

I met up with lots of friends including the girls from MA. It was awesome to see them and catch up on life and school and all that good business. I miss them so much. We were such a good team together.

IMG_4539

After M went back home I made time to discover some cool local spots I'd never been to in O-Town.

IMG_4540

Eugene & Kobe became fast friends and they really enjoyed one another's company. You could say they had a summer romance.

IMG_4541

We ate lots of ice cream...

IMG_4542

And I tried an awesome new spot- Supply & Demand. They had the most delicious Kale caesar salad.

IMG_4543

Nicole and I went to the spa. It was epic.

IMG_4544

I celebrated Canada day for the first time in O-Town. I was always at camp in NYC when we lived there.

IMG_4545

And then we visited the burbs. It was a short lived visit that ended in a return DT where there were less children to be harassed.

IMG_4546

IMG_4547

And I got to see all the girls in a fun & silly martini night. Then we went home.

It was an amazing start to our summer and one we would def do again! If Mike & Nicole will have us! They were the best hosts ever this summer-dealing with me & E.

Tomorrow I'll be sharing some more of our summer at home. Stay tuned!

Sign me up!

Back again today with another layout from an old SC kit.

More old pics from KP weekend. They were in the kit bag so that's what got used. I think that might be the last of 'em folks!

IMG_4146

Trying another 8 1/2 by 11 here with a little strip of photos. I'm loving the yellow polka dots with the turquoise letters with a pop of red. I think it's a beautiful bright combo!

IMG_4150

And that's another one. Tomorrow's Friday! TGIF!

Inspired by...

Little side note: I gave my blog header a little overhaul yesterday. Just changing it up around here a little. And yes, I recognize that I am no longer a 'twenty-something' as I turned thirty nearly two weeks ago but I'm embracing the lie. Just kidding actually. But really I just didn't want to change the name of my blog. Frankly, it's just too much trouble.

I haven't done an 'inspired by' post in ages and recently came across this layout by Kelly Noel. Naturally, like all inspiration these days-it came from Pinterest.

Screen shot 2013-06-04 at 3.50.22 PM

I loved the effect at the top. Buttons, a love of mine, were incorporated heavily and that really, really appealed to me. So, I stuck pretty closely to the layout itself.

This is what I came up with.

IMG_3397

Don't you love the buttons? I added some wood veneer and enamel dots as well. I love the dimension.

IMG_3414

I did a little misting of the letters and used a few wood veneer similar to the inspiration piece.

IMG_3415

I left out the bottom piece of pattern paper for an extra line of journaling.

So, Wendy & Janna, the owners of The Paperie, made a few dreams come true in March when they invited Kelly Purkey to come teach classes and meet our crazy bunch of ladies at the store. It was E.P.I.C and really a dream come true.

Now, they're doing it all again!

Yep. Dina Wakely is coming and while I'm not nearly as into her business as much as Miss. KP's I am very, very excited to meet her and learn some new things. Art journaling is very new to me so I have a feeling that she is going to widen my horizons. I'm excited to spend the weekend learning new things in August and if you're local you should check it out too!
