Happy Birthday Eugene!

Today our baby boy is ONE.

IMG_0478

Yeah, we're those people who celebrate dog birthdays.

We had a great day-full of walks, naps, snuggles, lot of treats and a few new toys. I couldn't resist a little birthday hat to end the day...

...clearly he's not happy about it.

This is the aftermath.

The hat didn't really make it through.

LOL.

Happy birthday puppy dog! We are so happy you came into our lives.

Inspired by

I'm starting a new series this year called 'inspired by'. I'll be the first to say that all my ideas don't just come out of my head. I LOVE pinterest.

And that's just what this series is about.

This layout was my inspiration.

I loved the triangles and so I kept very close to the layout. I even went with a similar color scheme.

I added a few extra embellishments of course because that's my style.

I love the little dimension that the twine add's as well. I love how this layout turned out.

I'd love to see what you've been inspired by if you use Pinterest. Please leave you Pinterest name in the comments so I can follow you.

Try Something New

It's 2013. You know-the time when everyone makes their resolutions and decides to try something new.

So today I'm joining The Paperie and challenging you to go outside your box, your comfort zone-whatever you call it-and try something you would never do in your scrapbooking.

I recently tried something I never do. If you're familiar with my blog you'll know that this layout is nothing like my usual style. But, in an effort to try something everyone was talking about-namely silks-I gave something new a shot.

I layered and masked and silked.

I even used some goosebumps & glitter with a little help from Cathie.

Seriously. It was a significant departure from my natural style but honestly I LOVE how it turned out.

So try something new on your next page. You never know what you might discover about yourself.

5 for Friday

1. I've recently become obsessed with Downton Abbey. Seriously. I'm almost though all the seasons in just over a week.

2. I'm working on some layouts for The Paperie's January kit.

3. Eugene has found a new spot. Looks like I'll be doing a little DIY and making a bench in the new year.

4. Over Christmas I invested in some new boots and got an awesome new coat for Christmas. If you are in the market for boots I highly recommend Bluntstones. They are warm, dry and sturdy without being heavy. Doesn't hurt that they are also somewhat fashionable. Here's a shot of the ones I have. Of course, we know who's unintentionally photobombing.

5. Lastly, we had an awesome New Year's eve with some new friends. There was lots of instagramming including this shot-my fav.

And that's it for the frist edition of 5 for Friday for 2013.

Have a great weekend!

One of the Best Moments of 2012

Without a doubt one of the best decisions we made in 2012 was welcoming our Cocker Spaniel Eugene into our lives. In April we traveled to Ottawa to pick him up at a mere 11 weeks old. We can't imagine our lives without him now. He is my shadow and he is one of the best snugglers I know.

I thought I would share this layout that I made ages ago.

The main picture was taken in June on Canada day weekend at the cabin. I had so many pictures of us napping though that I couldn't chose so I made a little accordion album for the page to supplement the main photo.

I used a kit that I created for a class I did in November for The Paperie. I gave a little tutorial on creating kits out of your own supplies and created one of my own with a ton of old product. The girls in the class challenged me to use some of the papers I didn't like to create a few layouts.

There's lots of old products-some Studio Calico, some Stampin' Up and American Crafts. I also used some other product I wouldn't normally use- like this chipboard frame.

I'll be back with some more awesome moments of 2012 tomorrow.
