The Paperie: February KTOL

*Each month I do a class called 'Keeping Track of Life' or KTOL at my local store The Paperie.

This month I went with a 'heart' theme inspired by a picture I saw on- where else- Pinterest, for the interactive layout.

IMG_5952

The three papers with the paperclips are triangles that fold out to reveal more photos.

IMG_5953

I used pictures from our visit to Mallard Cottage February 1st with our friends. Conveniently, it was also our anniversary-dating not wedding anniversary. 11 years. Go us! Our meal was delicious & the company was pretty awesome too!

For the pocket page I used a simple piece of vellum for the date card, which I wanted to be in the centre of the layout so I let it span two of the 3" by 4" pockets.

It was another great month around here!

KTOL 2014: January

Last week I finished teaching the January layouts for KTOL at The Paperie so I thought I'd share the opening layout & the January layout here.

For the opening layout I wanted to do something colorful and cool. After executing a similar concept for the opening of my December Daily album with the number '25'- seen here- I thought I would give the idea  shot with '2014' only adding a pic in for the '0'. I love the way it turned out too!

IMG_5619

For the January layout I was working with some Studio Calico tranparencies from their Magical line. I wanted a 'slideshow' concept. You can see the quick instagram video of how the pic slides out via the tab on the right here.

IMG_5620

Cool right? I love the way it turned out.

We also filled a page protector but I'm not quite done filling it just yet so I'll save that for another day.

I've got something triangular up my sleeve for February's layout. Here's a quick sneak peek! ;)

I'm still working out the kinks but I'll keep you updated with sneak peeks as it comes together!

KTOL 2013: December Layouts

We finished up our Keeping Track of Life (KTOL) classes for 2013 this month. I've been continuing with the interactive elements throughout the year and this month was no exception.

Here's Decembers layout- a nice combo of SC's & Simple Stories holiday line.

IMG_5410

This month's layout deserved a space for multiple pics so we used an envelop to create a spot to tuck a mini album.

IMG_5411

IMG_5412

IMG_5413

And there were also gold buttons. Love these.

IMG_5409

IMG_5408

We filled our page protector too. I added an extra little insert to include some holiday photos.

IMG_5414

IMG_5415

IMG_5416

IMG_5417

I've become obsessed with the idea of writing and stamping on photos so that's something that you'll continue to see throughout the 2014 edition of KTOL.

Lastly, we had to do a little recap page to finish up the album.

12 little envelopes and inside of each are a little 2 by 3 piece-one side with a photo and one with notes about that month. I embellished the envelopes with the initial of each month & some bit and bobs- wood veneer, washi tape & a few stamps.

IMG_5418

And that's closes the album on KTOL 2013.

We have some fun things in store for the 2014 edition. Call The Paperie for details.

September KTOL: One Week

Thursday night is September's KTOL class so I thought I'd share the layout for the class for those of you taking part. For everyone else, it's a little eye candy!

This month's layout is a combination of autumn colors by Basic Grey & My Mind's Eye with a little orange thrown in courtesy of Jillibean Soup.

IMG_4263

As always, I included an interactive element with room for multiple pictures.

IMG_4264

This month's interactive element is a double accordion booklet with room for seven photos. Many of us took park in Week in The Life this month so I chose to include a pic from each day of the week in my layout, using the orange Jillibean Alphabeans I labeled each pic with each weekday's initial to identify which day was which. I added my journaling on a large block in the centre but you could use that for another longer photo.

IMG_4265

Can't wait to see all you ladies on Thursday night! You'll be needing 7 two by three photos for this layout and we'll be using the usual page protector so come prepared to fill that as well.

Keeping Track of Life: August Edition

I'm sharing August's class layouts from KTOL today.

They main layout was simple and straight-forward this month with little pockets to slide extra photos in leaving space for up to 12 little photos.

IMG_4113

Each month the layout is an opportunity to scrapbook a big even from the month. This month I focused on our dinner at AQUA for our 4 year wedding anniversary. The food was amazing. Awesome. Delicious. One of our best meals. It was a lovely meal & we enjoyed each others' company tremendously.

Then for the page protector I tried adding effects in Photoshop to the photos so they would all be cohesive.

IMG_4116

I love the bright blue Thickers from this kit.

August was a great month. It was the end of our trip to FL with our pals & a 30th birthday with a bestie. We had a mini family reunion dinner for the Wells'. We did a lot of hiking with friends. We enjoyed the last dregs of summer together!

June KTOL Layouts

On Thursday night I taught June's edition of KTOL or Keeping Track of Life. I shared some sneaks last week but today I'd like to share the complete layouts.

First up is the interactive layout for the class.

monkeyrock

A 4 by 6 photo for the focal point and then a matchbook with a whole bunch of little photos on the inside.

matchbook

I printed my journaling on the Maya Road kraft label and added it to the outside of the matchbook. I created the little '2' badge using the ephifany crafts badge maker tool and some epoxy badges. I love the way it turned out!

IMG_3641

And this is the pocket page-

Lots of fun stuff this month-a birthday dinner & night out, Simon's visit, some renos in the 1/2 bathroom, gearing up for Ottawa and our visit to O-Town.

KTOL: Sneak Peeks

Tomorrow I"m teaching the June edition of 'Keeping Track of Life'. So today I'm sharing a few sneaks of the class-

IMG_3641

Lots of yellow, blue and a pop of red & brown from Simple Stories, My Mind's Eye and Studio Calico. My favorite part of creating for this class is putting together each months combination for the layout page. I love taking items from different manufacturers and creating unexpected combinations with the papers! I'm also really excited to create some badges!

As usual it's interactive so there's an element with a number of pictures and the usual focus as well. This month it's a large matchbook.

matchbook

And then I used a bunch of the little label stickers for the date card in the pocket page.

IMG_3645

I can't wait to see everyone tomorrow night for class.

KTOL: Sneak Peeks

Today I have a few sneak peeks of my Keeping Track of Life post for next week's class.

IMG_3410

IMG_3411

It's bright and colorful and I love it. And you might have noticed that this month's interactive element in an accordion book with room for 13 photos! Lots of room to tell a story.

Call The Paperie to sign up for next week's class.

April KTOL Layouts

Hello & good morning!

Today I'm sharing the layouts I made for this month's KTOL class. We used some Simple Stories and Paislee Press paper in the layout and I fell in love with the tiny black letters by Tim Holtz.

Pause for the gasp of shock from all my scrappy friends! I'm not a huge fan of Tim's usual feel-too dark and grungy for me-so saying that I actually 'love' one of his products is probably a huge shock to my girlfriends. Lol.

Here's the layout...

IMG_3236

This month we got interactive by creating an interactive accordian album-almost like a folded up box. It enabled us to use a ton of photos at a nice size too-3 1/2 by 3 1/2.

IMG_3316

IMG_3317

My layout for the month centres around 'Fake Prom' which is a fundraiser for a local music festival. This year's theme was space prom. So naturally I made M a fake NASA astronaut's helmet. When in Rome right?! It was also an excuse to wear a tutu & a fasinator. Why not right?! I love a good excuse to wear a costume!

The page protector came together easily with a bunch of usual photos and some of the supplies from previous months as well as those beautiful thickers & tiny Tim Holtz letters.
But my favourite part is the 'keep calm & carry a camera' card'. Love it.

It was another great month!

Monday, April 22, 2013

Hey Monday!

I'm stopping by quickly today to share March's KTOL (Keeping Track of Life) class layout and page protector.

IMG_3117

This layout has 3 folded pieces that open to reveal more photos.

IMG_3120
IMG_3121

I loved the hexagon pattern paper so I cut some of them out to use as embellishments in the layout.

IMG_3122

And this is the page protector with a combination of our activities in March.

IMG_3118
IMG_3119

Highlights included: Dinner with friends, some DIY projects, real Easter bunnies, a big party & of course Kelly's big visit to NL!

February KTOL Layouts

Good morning!

Today I have last month's Keeping Track of Life (KTOL) class layouts to share. If you aren't familiar with the class the concept is similiar to Project Life but each month we create an interactive layout about one important event and fill a page protector with more of the everyday moments.

Here's this month's interactive layout:

IMG_2941

Each of the circles move to reveal a few more pictures.

IMG_2958

This month my big event was a book brunch I threw for a few of the girls. We talked very little about the book but we had a great time!

The page protector is filled with the usual- my February goals, a calendar pocket, valentine's events, some winter walks, a few before & after's & a right now post from the last day of the month.

Five for Friday

First of all, I've been the WORST blogger as of late. March just kind of started and has continued at warp speed for me and blogging fell through the cracks. But, I'm determined to get back on track next week. Stay tuned for what's to come-here's a little 5 for Friday preview of it in fact.

1. This past weekend was spent with the lovely Kelly Purkey. She taught classes at The Paperie & stayed with us at our humble abode. Eugene basically fell in love. I've been usurped. If i'm going to fall to the #2 spot on his list KP is a choice I can live with as #1. More on her visit on Monday.

IMG_6970

2. I have layouts to share next week of the February KTOL class that I gave on Thursday night.

IMG_2958

3. And I have pics of Saturday's 'Dear Lizzy' Daybook that I crammed into a three hour class. More on that story next week.

IMG_6868

4. I have a list of home DIY projects a mile long. Included on it are 1.) striping and staining an antique wash stand, 2.) Priming and painting a new french door for the scrapbooking room, 3.) ordering more hardwood to lay in the hall and scrapbooking room. Gonna get to business this weekend on some of it.

IMG_6801

5. I'm getting ready for my March KTOL class, Easter camp kids class & my upcoming 'Create a Kit' class in April. If you're local, call The Paperie to inquire about dates and sign up!

Now, let's get this weekend started.
